8 slices brioche or challah bread
2 tablespoons butter, for frying
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced thin
1/4 cup strawberry preserves or jam
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons whole milk
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl until completely smooth and fluffy.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over four slices of bread, leaving a small border. Layer with thinly sliced strawberries and top each with strawberry preserves. Place the remaining bread slices on top and press gently to seal.
In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs and whole milk until fully blended.
Carefully dip each assembled sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place coated sandwiches in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp.
Remove sandwiches to paper towels to absorb excess butter.
Dust sandwiches with powdered sugar, cut diagonally, and serve immediately while warm.
