Delicate French macarons with a crispy exterior and soft interior, filled with your choice of delicious buttercream, ganache, or jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of choice (e.g., buttercream, ganache, or jam)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine and sift the almond flour and powdered sugar to remove lumps.
  3. Whisk the egg whites until foamy, then gradually add granulated sugar and cream of tartar, whisking until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the meringue in three additions, adding food coloring if desired.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  6. Let them sit for 30-60 minutes until a skin forms on the surface.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the macarons rise without cracking.
  8. Cool completely before filling with your choice of filling.

Notes

Ensure bowls and utensils are grease-free for best results. Aging egg whites can lead to better meringue.
