Classic Tiramisu is a delightful Italian dessert with rich, creamy layers that transforms any occasion into a celebration.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 package ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thick.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan until just simmering.
  3. Gradually whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture, then return to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
  4. Whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  6. Combine the cooled coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
  7. Quickly dip the ladyfingers into the coffee mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
  8. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  9. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and finish with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

For a different flavor, you can use fruit purees or chocolate milk instead of coffee.
