Crispy fried shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, perfect for sharing or enjoying solo.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional)
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Lettuce or cabbage for serving
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Mix the Bang Bang Sauce: In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha (if using) to create the Bang Bang sauce.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in cornstarch, ensuring they’re fully coated.
  3. Dip in Egg: Dip the coated shrimp into the beaten egg, allowing the excess to drip off.
  4. Coat with Panko Breadcrumbs: Roll the shrimp in panko breadcrumbs until completely covered.
  5. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the Shrimp: Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Drain & Toss in Sauce: Remove the shrimp from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Toss in the prepared Bang Bang sauce.
  8. Serve & Garnish: Serve the shrimp on a bed of lettuce or cabbage and garnish with green onions.

Notes

For perfectly crispy shrimp, don’t overcrowd the pan while frying. Adjust the heat of the sauce to your preference.
