A delightful apple crisp dessert filled with tender, caramelized apples and a crunchy topping, perfect for cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples (such as Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, diced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, half of the brown sugar, and half of the ground cinnamon.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Mix the oats, remaining brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the oat mixture generously over the apples.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  8. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, swap the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
